Strawberry Picking 2012

At the end of last week we went to Joe Huber's Farm with our friends, Mrs. Kim, Eli, and Kinley to pick strawberries. We took a wagon ride out to the strawberry fields and started picking the juicy red, delicious smelling strawberries. Lorelei picked one strawberry and immediately exclaimed, "I all done." She wasn't kidding either, and spend the rest of the time tasting the strawberries we had picked. I found out later once we were home and I was washing the strawberries that she had put the half eaten strawberries and leftover stems back into the box of strawberries we paid for.

100th Day of School

We ended our pre-kindergarten school year with our 100th day of school this past week. We started the day with our 100 day breakfast of a banana and two doughnuts. After breakfast we did our calendar for the day and put our last straw in our cups to make 100 straws. We reviewed the Parable of the Lost Sheep, which was appropriate since Jesus tells about a shepherd who has 100 sheep and when he loses one he leaves the 99 others to find his one lost sheep. Julianne wrote and drew in her journal about what she would buy with 100 dollars. Her response was "A dolly with 100 clothes".

AWANA Awards Night

This past year Julianne was in four year old Cubbies in the AWANA program at our church. She always looked forward to going to Cubbies on Wednesday night with her wonderful teachers, Mr. Trevor and Mrs. Melissa. She also loved getting to see all her friends and play outside on the playground. During Cubbies she colored pictures, made crafts, learned Bible stories, and said the Bible verses she had memorized the previous week. This past Wednesday night we went to AWANA Awards Night and Julianne got a certificate and a necklace for completing her third year in AWANA.

Morgan - 1 Month

Saturday was a big day for Morgan. He not only turned one month old, but it was also Cinco de Mayo and Derby day. He was so excited for this day that he woke up bright and early at 6 a.m. It seems he is taking after his oldest sister with early wake ups and is perfectly content, but is just ready to be awake and out of bed. Once I can force myself to get out of bed, it's actually a really sweet time that I can spend alone him since that doesn't happen too much with older sisters around.

Photo Session with Three Kids - Outtakes

I had to share some of the pictures that didn't quite make the cut. As I shared before, Lorelei anticipated the flash and closed her eyes and flinched for about 90% of the pictures, so here are what most of the pictures looked like.

Photo Session with Three Kids

A photo session with one kid is difficult enough, but add two more and it's nearly impossible to get a good picture with all three smiling and looking at the camera. And really we were just trying to get two to smile and look at the camera since the littlest one has not yet learned to smile and slept through the entire session. The hour and a half that we were at Portrait Innovations was eventful for all three. Morgan slept most of the time, woke up after some prodding, cried a bit after being woken by the photographer, and then went back to sleep.

More Visitors for Morgan

We've had quite a few visitors the past week. Last weekend Morgan's Papa and Gigi (Grandpa and Grandma Mobley) came to visit and spent all Saturday with us. Morgan enjoyed some extra arms to hold him and the girls loved having their grandparents to play with. Gigi actually got Morgan to take a pacifier for the first time and Papa used the "football hold" to calm him down.

Morgan's First Visitors - Lee and Charity

As Chip and Claire were leaving, our friends, Lee and Charity, were arriving in Louisville. Lee spent the next few days at the Together for the Gospel conference, but Charity was able to spend some time with the kids and me. It was great to spend time with her and she was great help with the girls and Morgan. Julianne and Lorelei woke up each morning asking for Lee and Charity and were very sad to see them go home.

Morgan's First Visitors - Chip and Claire

After Morgan's Mimi, Chip and Claire were his first visitors. It had been two years since we had seen these sweet friends, who were recently back in the states from spending two years in New Zealand with Campus Crusade for Christ. They were with us for about two days and we loved getting to catch up with them. We shared Easter dinner with them on Sunday night and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon outside on Monday. Monday night we went to Mark's Feed Store where we enjoyed fried pickles, sweet tea, barbecue, and free desserts.

Two Weeks Old

I fully intended to post some pictures of our baby boy when he was one week old, but I guess this is how it goes with the third child, so two week pictures will just have to do. Morgan has had a very full two weeks and has experienced many "firsts". Here is how is first two weeks has gone:

Day 1: Born; Met Mommy, Daddy, Mimi, Julianne, and Lorelei

Day 2: Met Papa and Gigi and Mrs. Blair

Day 3: Went home from the hospital

Day 4: Celebrated first Easter; Met Chip and Claire
