Spring Break Trip to St. Louis
On Easter afternoon the girls and I took a quick trip to St. Louis to see our sweet friends, Chip and Claire, one more time before they left for New Zealand. We had Easter dinner with our family at my uncle and aunt's house. My uncle and brother smoked a ham and a duck. Yum!
Easter 2010
We started celebrating Easter three weeks before by learning what Easter is really about in "school". We started with Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, the cross, and finally the resurrection. Some activities that went along with teaching these stories were making patterns out of Julianne's clothes by laying them on the ground (as the people did when Jesus entered Jerusalem), hunting for resurrection eggs and talking about the meaning of each item, and making resurrection rolls. We also did some activities with eggs, which represents the new life that Christ gives us.
Lorelei - 3 months
Our sweet Lorelei is three months old today. She is such a blessing to us and I am so thankful that God has given her to us to raise. Lorelei has turned out to be such a laid back baby as she has gotten a little older and rarely fusses unless she is hungry, tired, or has a dirty diaper. She is full of smiles and is very ticklish on her belly. She loves to babble when you give her your full attention and is rarely still. Her favorite position is in the standing position and holds herself up pretty well.

Fun with Uncle Andy and Mimi
We have had visitors for the past week and a half. On St. Patrick's Day my brother Andy (aka Uncle Andy) came to visit us for five days. It was so much fun having him here and Julianne absolutely loved getting to play with him. Uncle Andy made us several meals that were delicious. We also did a lot of playing outside and went to a couple of parks during his visit. At the end of his visit, my mom (aka Mimi) came for a visit too. We got to spend one day with them both, until we had to take Uncle Andy to the airport.
11 Weeks
Okay, I have to admit that I had to look at a calendar to figure out how many weeks Lorelei was. How pitiful is that?
Julianne or Lorelei?
Although Lorelei started off looking like Julianne, we feel like she is becoming more and more her own little person, including her looks. When Julianne was a baby Stephen loved this outfit and put her in it just about anytime he was in charge of dressing her. I wanted to see for myself how the girls looked when compared, so here is a picture of Lorelei and a picture of Julianne. Can you tell who's who?
Julianne - Two and a Half
Julianne has been two and a half for almost a month now and I am just now sitting down to write something about her newest developments. One word to sum up this phase is "INDEPENDENCE." She wants to do everything "all by myself" (her exact words). Now, sometimes when she uses this phrase it means she doesn't want to share something, so she'll say, "I want to play with that all by myself".
Trip to the Zoo
Today was a beautiful, sunny Saturday, so we took advantage of the weather and went to the zoo for the first time as a family of four. Lorelei had a great time sleeping in the stroller while the rest of us enjoyed looking at all of the animals. The highlight of the trip was getting to see an itty bitty(a very scientific term) baby gorilla and a couple of rides on the carousel. Fun times were had by all! Here are some pictures.

Lorelei - 2 Months
Sweet Lorelei is already two months old, 9 weeks today. God has truly blessed our family with her sweet personality and she fits in our family perfectly. In the past three weeks Lorelei has begun smiling, which just melts my heart. She saves most of her smiles for her big sister, who can get a smile from her more often than when mommy and daddy try to get her to smile. She just stares at Julianne in wonder and gives Julianne her undivided attention for as long as Julianne is around. She also is vocalizing more sounds than just crying.
Potty Training
Well, our week of hardcore potty training has come to a close and the result is a sweet two and a half year old potty trained little girl. We started on Sunday night by taking a trip to Target and letting Julianne pick out her own panties and drink of choice (she picked apple juice). Monday morning Potty Day began by saying "bye" to diapers and "hello" to big girl panties. I used one of her dolls to demonstrate what would happen when she used the potty and then had her sit on the potty every thirty minutes or so, asking more frequently if she needed to use the potty.
